Elise Trumbull Handcrafted Jewelry Oakland, California
I specialize in handcrafted, one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The materials I use are primarily semi-precious gemstone beads and fresh water pearls. Occasionally, I use Swarovski crystals or antique glass beads to complement the gemstone beads. My clasps and metal beads are sterling silver, gold-filled, and high-quality vermeil.
I have been making jewelry off and on for decades—beginning with inexpensive seed bead creations featuring multiple strands and flowers in the 1970s. But in the past six years I have revived and expanded my jewelry-making skills by taking courses on gemstone identification, stringing techniques, pearl knotting, wire techniques, bead and chain necklace design, soldering, and bezel setting.
My jewelry is sold to friends as well as through local stores that feature Bay Area designers. You can see current examples of my work in Oakland, California at Hula, 6136 La Salle Ave. and the Jewel Box, 6116 LaSalle Ave. as well as at Afikomen, 3042 Claremont Ave. in Berkeley, California.
I have designed particular pieces on commission for a range of occasions, such as special birthdays or anniversaries. I enjoy helping my clients determine what styles and colors are most flattering to them and appropriate to their wardrobes. If you would like me to design an original piece of jewelry for you, use the "Contact" link above to send me a note.
In my “other life” I am an educational researcher specializing in issues of language and culture, now working as a consultant to non-profit companies and educational agencies throughout the country. I am also the co-author of eight books on education as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters.
